Ivey League is an outstanding place to learn self defense, BJJ, Muay Thai, and MMA. The instructors are completely in tune with what each student needs in order to improve and the quality of instruction is excellent. I started training just over a year ago and have gone from absolutely zero athletic ability to having some pretty decent skills and a world more confidence in myself. I highly recommend Ivey League for both children and adults, novice and experienced.
Ivey League is the best and most well rounded training you can find in the Annapolis area. If you are looking for alot of content with high standards this is the place to go. No other schools in the area have the balance of standup, groundwork, and Self Defense, much less a quality Black Belt level Instructor with as much world experience as Danny Ives, teaching class day to day. Anyone who walks into Ivey Leage, at any skill level, will improve dramatically. Since joining a couple years ago, without a wrestling backround, and having to learn from the ground up, I have lost 65lbs of body fat and won double gold at my first grappling tournament. As a father, class at Ivey league is my stress relief, and I can’t wait for my son for when my son is old enough to join the Kids program. I can’t say enough about Danny Ives and Ivey League. I have watched him grow in the martial arts field since he was 11 years old. He has always put his heart and soul into training and his passion shows when he is training his students. And of course he has achieved more awards than could be posted in one review. I would highly recommend Ivey League MMA and Danny Ives even if he wasn’t my son.
Ivey League MMA is not just for people who want to be fighters. I started working out there simply for the exercise. The experiance has been amazing and I’ve since fallen in love with the sport. I’m 39 years old with a bad knee and no athletic ability. I’ve lost 45 lbs. in about 3 months and never had so much fun. I train mostly with people 10-15 years younger than me, but have never been made to feel like anything but part of the team.
I truly can’t say enough good things about Ivey League MMA. Don’t be intimidated by watching MMA and thinking thats all the gym does. There is some aspect of it for everyone no matter your fitness or experience level.

Danny Ives is one of… No, the BEST MMA Thai Kickboxing and Jiu Jitsu coach in Severna Park area in MD. I now live in southern Virginia and try to make it up at least once a month to train at Ivey League. Danny does an excellent job running his gym and everyone there is super cool.
I can’t say enough about Ivey League. The students are friendly and the instructor is outstanding. I have been lucky enough to train with Danny Iveys for almost a year now and I have to say he’s the best coach in the Annapolis area. He’s always working to improve his game/positions to pass along to his students. My game has progressed so much in the time that’s I’ve spent training under him. I would recommend him to anyone looking to learn self defense to MMA.
